Disclosure Statement – Gainful Employment Calculation Methodology

The calculation of completion and placement rates as reported to our accrediting agency and the U.S. Dept. of Education IPEDS database is based on graduation/completion within 150% of the length of the program. For this reason, a student who takes a leave of absence, withdraws for a term, fails a class or otherwise experiences a schedule change that extends his/her graduation date, may still complete and be counted in the completion/graduation rates reported to these agencies. On the other hand, they would not be counted as completed under the reporting requirements by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, our state agency, because the state calculation takes into consideration only students who graduated on time. In addition to that, the reporting period with the state is January 01 through December 31, same year. The reporting period with the accrediting agency and the US Department of Education is from July 01 through June 30 following year. Considering all of the above, we can see that discrepancies could occur between the numbers reported under the two different methodologies.
